money on the table

it's IMPERATIVE that i go after this money on the table for whatever it's worth.

niggas don't talk dollars at this level very often. when they do, you make sure your end of the deal is met with speed and accuracy. give scared money a chance to walk and it will RUN.

___

i'm not planning on staying in my apartment beyond the end of my current lease. with that said, while i'm here i'm going to try (again) to configure its' setup to best accommodate the music.

one of the 1st orders of business is to create a workable vocal "booth". the closet thing doesn't work. it especially doesn't work in the summer. walk-ins they're not, plus the acoustics stink. i've done far better takes with the sound bouncing around in my bed room. i hate acoustics and i never learned how to really tame them down on a budget, but i know that i can do better than what i have now.

i'm going to buy a nice heavy blanket and drape it across the wall adjacent to my bed, hopefully that will kill some of the bounce back coming back at the mic. i might try to get some carpet to dead the floor too.

couple that with a quality stand and a good pop filter, and i should be able to at least get a clean signal. i want to get a new pre-amp too, nothing too fancy (yet) but something that can give me good clean gain.

i have to find some way to make my computer stfu. the power supply fan and hard drives are entirely too loud and they color every vocal take i do. i need quiet drives and silent fans.

second on the list is the work station. i'm currently using a desk that i found as it was being discarded by its previous owner. also, to support my midi keyboard, i'm using my aluminum file cabinet, which i dented beyond repair taking that stupid myspace picture over and over. my heart sank when i felt it crumple beneath me...

so. a real stand would probably save space and be much more ergonomically apt. as of now the turntable and mixer can stay as is, i imagine that once it starts to get unbearably warm though... that will change. until then.

the desk could use the old heave-ho itself, actually. the height is great and i love its' footprint, but it's just falling apart. the pull out drawer gave out a few days ago, it's just not very useable now. i can't afford a new desk though, so i will stick it out with this one until that changes.

finally i have to get that monitor, man. i've been shook to pull the trigger on that purchase because it's such a large tax on the pockets, but what has to be done has to be done. no way around it.

that's all for now, i think. hopefully that won't be too difficult.

i ain't been liking the beats ive been making the past few days. not a huge problem, but it's getting on my nerves. i need to just stop trying and focus on getting these beats ready for Emoni and Raw Poetic, as well as Che Grand's 3 piece. thankfully those beats are done and picked, so all i have to do is get them studio ready.

this is all about building the calling card.

putting in that work now so down the line i can point to these projects and say this is what ive done. point of reference.

i have some opportunities to present myself at the next level... must capitalize on them.

oh, for anybody that doesn't know. i came in third on that beat contest. ask around though, your boy was robbed blind.
