let's get serious!

alright fams.

i figure i can share this with anyone who still visits regularly for updates, as it is close to nil, i won't be shooting myself in the foot with the ubiquitous jinx.

but i do wanna talk about it because i feel like i'm on the cusp, on the verge of something real big.

i've noticed recently that mental preparation has been key as far as being successful goes. i've also noticed that that's been a huge part of my process in setting myself up for the work involved in making this thing work- it's been sort of a philosophy building process that i can apply to all areas of my life, but specifically with my music.

it's a mental thing, 80% of any risk-laden venture is a mental challenge, where you've got to outthink your own insecurity and take fate by the balls so to speak. i'm my biggest obstacle at this point, 'cause on the real, there's a gaggle of niggas getting steady work who CAN'T do what i do.

musical talent is a SMALL percentage of the game, fam. cats who's aspiring to do this for a living, hear me OUT. the most gifted musicians sometimes are the ones with no jobs, always hoping the next gig is the big one. kool dj red alert said it best a few weeks ago, it's about figuring out how to market yourself for the most success possible.

this selling one beat every 6 months for $500 minus the paypal transaction charges ain't working, so i gotta shoot for bigger things.

so this is the situation.

i got something i'm working on. not a nebulous something, something specific and concrete. it's new and it's a bit different from my usual productions... it's basically me brandishing my various skills in flurry-punch fashion.

so it's gonna be like an album, but not.

more like a glorified beat tape, but that's okay if that's how it's recieved. i want it to feel like an album though.

and here's the killer:

it's gonna be FREE and limited edition!

i stand to make ZERO dollars on it. in fact, i'll spend more making it than i'll recoup distributing it. and i have a short list of folks whose hands need to be holding this disc.

i'm going to pay somebody a fair price to do some great artwork, too.

it's all marketing, fam.

you show niggas what you can do, niggas who have mobility that you don't, and hopefully they'll want to help you get into a position of mobility too. it's the dilla model. dilla had a beat tape circulate through some helping hands before he blew. cats like ?uestlove, q-tip, d'angelo, etc etc.

next thing you know, dilla's working with all of them. and niggas say that i've got it. i've been told that too many times by too many different UNrelated people. i'm not fronting on that anymore... i'm riding with it until somebody tells me that somebody lied to me. lol

for some reason though, i don't think i'll be hearing that.

GMFB nigga. it's about the dough now.
